BUILT ON TRADITION
Capurro’s motoring heritage dates back to the 1920s, and we’ve held a relationship with Land Rover since 1948. We’ve evolved over the years to meet the needs of our customers and established ourselves as a company that operates internationally, as well as locally.
ORIGINS
Our company was first established in 1876 to supply coal to steam powered ships. This later expanded into shipping and insurance, and then motoring in the 1920s as importers for the Ford Motor Company.
We then became Importers for Champion spark plugs and Goodyear Tyres. It is a little known fact that were the first European Importer for Goodyear!
In the 1930s, the company began long-term relationships with Morris, Austin, Triumph, Jaguar and Austin Rover.
LAND ROVER AND JAGUAR
In 1948, the Rover company launched the Land Rover series. Not only was this the year that the Land Rover name was introduced, it was also the very same year that Capurro became franchised Land Rover representatives for Gibraltar. This makes us the oldest independently owned Land Rover Importer in Europe.
In 2011, Capurro became an official importer of both Jaguar and Land Rover.
TOURIST AND TAX-FREE EUROPEAN SALES
We have continued to expand and specialise in providing Diplomatic, Tourist and Tax-Free vehicles throughout the European Union. Our aim has always been to offer a refreshingly personal and innovative approach towards customer, and developments like our customer portal reflect this.
A NEW LOOK
In 2017, the growth and evolution of our business took physical form with the reconstruction of our showroom. Seamlessly blending the contemporary design of Jaguar Land Rover’s new showroom presentation and the heritage of the original building, a striking yet sympathetic piece of architecture has been created. The building also reflects who we are as business – faithful to tradition and our core values, whilst also innovating.
APPOINTMENT BY JAGUAR LAND ROVER
In 2020, we were delighted to become Jaguar Land Rover’s Global Partner for Diplomatic Sales. Working in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover, we have developed a sales programme that provides qualifying individuals with access to all market specification, worldwide delivery options and exclusive pricing.
Whilst our business has grown, we are as committed as ever to providing the personal, high-quality service to our customers.
